NaPo Days XXVIII-XXX

The final three! I would agree I started stronger than I finished, but I plead total overwhelming stress this month as an excuse. But I made it through my seventh year of NaPoWriMo. I certainly didn’t write a poem every day and I definitely had to play some catch-up, but I did it. Yay!

Oceans of Grace

Grace abounds as oceans roar
Around my head, past wooden doors.
They’re all unlocked, the grace is free,
Yet I live like it’s unknown to me.
Had circumstances left me blind
And had the world been less unkind
I might have known. But what’s the use
In making this my poor excuse?
I’m like a fish in oceans blue
Asking where the sea’s got to
When I move forward with my day
And ask why grace has gone away.

Won’t Be Brought Low

If I must do much more than I expect,
And live a life I long for but still doubt,
Then how must I resist the disrespect
And all the short dismissals handed out
To those who look much less than what they are?
How can I power through the angry looks
Of those who think I’m capable by far
Of less than writing poems, reading books?
Come now, you world of stiflers and snakes
Who strike at weakness, turn it into shame.
Leave well alone the warrior who awakes,
And will not let the world remain the same.
If I am meant for so much more than this,
You may attack my soul, but you will miss.

You Know My Name

The universe is full of matter. Black
And formless and without substantial being.
Years exist between the stuff of stars
And time and consciousness have little meaning.
Warmth and light exists each million years
As light, compelled to travel, pierces space
With nothing in between but unknown stuff
And here a little planet holds its place.
And on it matter takes the form of beings
And in it hearts are made of tissue, strung
Between the bones and blood of sudden life
Alive and full of something. Mind you hung
Upon the soul imparted with a need
To know you and to fall within your aim.
This matter with a mind exists in space,
And in all the universe you know my name.

Cheers to anyone else who finished! Good game, everyone. Jolly good I say.
