May Sonnet Challenge, Part V.

Here are days 11, 12, and 13 of the May Sonnet Challenge. One more day to go! I realize I didn’t finish the challenge within 14 days. In my defense, my husband and I moved from our apartment into our first house this past week. I’m behind on everything in my life now. 🙂

Here they are (and as always, explanations of the May Sonnet Challenge and of the specific forms are available here):

Day Eleven: All My Heart Will Long For (A French Sonnet, or Rondel Prime)

It’s only you for all my life, I swear–
And all my heart will long for til I die.
My soul and mind will long for God, but I–
I’ve given you my heart and body, dear.

Some moments draw me wayward into fear
Away from God, from you; I don’t know why.
It’s only you for all my life. I swear,
And all my heart will long for til I die.

I’ve loved you with a passion for some years
And I will love with peace now by and by.
A love that settles calmly to a sigh;
Firm and steadfast, old and pure and rare.
It’s only you for all my life, I swear;
And all my heart will long for til I die.

Day Twelve: Good-Night (Word Sonnet)

And
In
The
Silence,
Hear
My
Heart
Beat
Fast
With
Abject
Fear.
Good (?)-
Night.

Day Thirteen: The Road (Blues Sonnet)

I’ve taken road that brought me to this place,
Yes, these same roads have brought me to this place,
And I am standing on the edge of grace.

The road goes on without me, full of change.
I hope the road ahead will make me change
As all my hopes and dreams are rearranged.

As all I’ve been thus far now comes to this:
My life, my love of learning comes to this,
Both feared and to be greeted with a kiss.

For what ahead leaves me no more the same;
And what I choose leaves nothing now the same.
I cannot hide, refuse to speak its name.

I end one era, take away the light,
And step forth blindly into coming night.
